It is our pleasure to announce that Mihaly Vadai has successfully passed his PhD viva this morning with the usual minor corrections.

Mihaly Vadai was a PhD student on a joint collaboration between QMUL EECS and CERN (Switzerland) and his work was focused on “Beam Loss Reduction by Barrier Buckets in the CERN Accelerator Complex”. In the framework of a QMUL EECS and CERN SY joint PhD project, he developed firmware for a radiofrequency drive in the accelerator and took part in the implementation of a unique beam manipulation, which achieved a significant beam loss reduction for fixed-target beams in the CERN PS. He was supervised jointly by myself and also Dr Heiko Damerau (CERN).
