Abstract

Time-domain Terahertz spectroscopy (TDTS) has evolved as a powerful tool for the investigation of electromagnetic phenomena and imaging in the THz spectral range. I will discuss the principles of TDTS with an emphasis on efficient THz emitters driven by ultrafast laser pulses such as large area photoconductive THz emitters [1] and photo-Dember THz emitters [2]. The realization of asynchronous optical sampling (ASOPS) as a new method to perform TDTS has led to short data acquisition times and a high dynamic range for THz spectroscopy [3].
