We are pleased to announce the online publication of the themed issue of Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A"Spatial transformations: from fundamentals to applications", collected and edited by QUEST researchers, including Prof. Yang Hao and Dr Robert Foster from the Antennas group. This themed issue followed the successful Royal Society Theo Murphy Scientific Discussion Meeting of the same name and included contributions from world-leading researchers.

Two articles from QUEST researchers are included: the introduction, which acts as a brief overview of the field and issue; and the research article "Manufacture of electrical and magnetic graded and anisotropic materials for novel manipulations of microwaves". Both are available from the Table of Contents webpage for the issue, as open or free to access.

"This themed issue has contributions from theorists, material scientists and electromagnetic engineers. The articles consider topics ranging from basic theory, to fabrication issues, to the potential for radically new devices. One key challenge is the physical realisation of the required materials with varying properties; progress in this area is discussed in this issue. Other challenges for the future include the application of the spatial transformation technique to semiconductor electronics and the quantum regime."
