Double Best Paper Awards for Antennas Academic

Posted on August 14, 2014

Dr Maged Elkashlan from the Antennas Group has recently enjoyed double success at leading international conferences, receiving the best paper awards at two events, one sponsored by the European Alliance for Innovation (ChinaCom 2014) and another sponsored by the prestigious IEEE Communications Society (IEEE ICC 2014). Both awards recognised his work examining interference in cognitive spectrum sharing networks.

His paper on "Mitigating Cross-Network Interference in Cognitive Spectrum Sharing with Opportunistic Relaying" received the best paper award at the IEEE International Conference on Communications 2014 (IEEE ICC 2014), which took place in Sydney, Australia in the period 10 to 14 June 2014. You can see the complete list of the winners of best paper awards at the IEEE ICC 2014 on the conference website.

IEEE ICC is one of two flagship conferences of the IEEE Communications Society, together with IEEE GlobeCom. Each year, the conference attracts about 3000 submitted scientific papers. A technical program committee of more than 1,500 experts provides more than 10,000 reviews, and from this a small fraction (~30%) of the submitted papers are accepted for publication and presentation at the conference. The conference meets once a year and attracts roughly 2000 leading scientists and researchers and industry leaders from all around the world. IEEE ICC is therefore one of the most significant scientific events of the networking and communications community, a must-attend event for scientists and researchers from industry and academia.

Dr Elkashlan was also the recipient of the best paper award at the 9th International Conference on Communications and Networking in China (ChinaCom 2014), which took place in Maoming, China, between 14-16 August 2014. The award was for his work with leading international collaborators on "Interference Investigation for Cognitive Spectrum Sharing Networks with Reactive DF Relay Selection". You can see the complete list of awarded papers at ChinaCom 2014 on the conference website.

ChinaCom is endorsed by the European Alliance for Innovation, a leading community-based organization devoted to the advancement of innovation in the field of ICT. The aim of ChinaCom is to bring together Chinese and international researchers and practitioners in networking and communications under one roof, building a showcase of these fields in China. ChinaCom is being positioned as the premier international annual conference for the presentation of original and fundamental research advances in the field of communications, networks, and internet applications.
